Bicycle Safety Tips

  1. Wear a Helmet: Always wear a properly fitted bicycle helmet to protect your head.

  2. Ride with Traffic: Use the rightmost lane and go with the flow of traffic, never against it.

  3. Obey Traffic Laws: Stop at all stop signs and red lights; bikes have the same responsibilities as cars.

  4. Be Predictable: Ride in a straight line and do not weave in and out of traffic or parked cars.

  5. Use Hand Signals: Signal your turns and stops well in advance to alert drivers and other cyclists.

  6. Stay Visible: Wear bright colors, use a white front light and red rear light/reflector, especially at night or in low visibility.

  7. Make Eye Contact: Ensure drivers see you before you cross in front of them, particularly at intersections.

  8. Watch for Hazards: Look out for potholes, debris, grates, and opening car doors.

  9. Don't Use Electronics: Do not wear headphones or use your phone while riding to remain aware of your surroundings.

  10. Check Your Bike: Regularly check that your brakes work, tires are inflated, and the chain is secure
