Are events ticketed, and if so, how do I purchase a ticket?

Some events are free, and some are ticketed. Depending on the event, tickets may be purchased at the gate or in advance.  Please see the individual event pages for event-specific information.

Can I bring my own chair?

There is some built-in bench seating and a few picnic tables at Moondance, but guests should bring their own chairs or blankets to ensure they have seating.

What about pop-up tents, or similar shade structures?  Can I bring those?

No, structures that may block the view of others or create a safety concern are not permitted.

Where can I park?

Ample free parking is available!  Moondance has street parking surrounding the facility, and Moondance patrons are allowed to park in select business lots after 5 p.m. and on the weekends (denoted in green below). Please refrain from parking in the areas denoted in red below at any time.

Are dogs allowed?

Yes, but they must be leashed and well-behaved.

Are food, drink, or concessions available for purchase?

Depending on the event, we will have food and beverage vendors onsite. We will list on our Facebook page if vendors will be present at an event. However, all vendors are independent contractors and are subject to change.

Are outside food and drink allowed?

Yes, guests may bring their own food or beverage.

Are there restroom facilities available?

There are full-service bathrooms on site. During the busier months we also supplement with portable restrooms for nights where the lines may be longer.

Is smoking allowed?

Smoking is not permitted within the fenced amphitheater area. Guests must step outside the fence, a minimum of 25’ from the entrances.

The Moondance Foundation is always looking for ways to improve the facilities and experiences at the Moondance.  You can support our work by donating HERE.

Additionally, Parks has numerous  volunteer opportunities where individuals or groups can assist with things like landscaping, painting, or working at an event. More information about volunteering for events like those at Moondance can be found HERE.

What is the policy for handling inclement weather during events at Moondance Amphitheater?

At Moondance Amphitheater, our priority is ensuring the safety of all attendees during any event. According to the official Parks policy, in the event of thunder, we will delay events for 30 minutes from when the thunder is heard. For lightning, the delay extends to 1 hour from the time it is detected. These delays are applied to each individual occurrence of thunder or lightning to ensure a safe environment.

Decisions about canceling events due to weather are determined on a case-by-case basis. For official Parks events, city officials will make the decision as promptly as possible and will post updates on their website (www.lexingtonky.gov/parks). In the case of private events, this responsibility falls to the individual organizations hosting the event. We appreciate your understanding and patience as we work to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone.
